Best Slow Living YouTube Channels

A Cup of Coffee on a Wooden Log Near the Bonfire

There are a lot of people wanting to live a slow life, but stuck in a conventionally frantic one, they often get their slow living fix from watching YouTube videos. It seems like slow living has become a trend along with Hygue, Lagom, Minimalism and so many other lifestyles and life philosophies. Therefore lot’s of Youtubers followed the trend but there are a few, that seem to be living this lifestyle in an authentic and genuine manner. Some are well known, some a bit more obscure but all follow the slow living lifestyle ethos.

The Swiss Simpleton

This is a channel about slow living from a male perspective. Felix lives in Switzerland, in the countryside and speaks about the importance of spending time in nature and has very insightful chats about simple living and the whole philosophy of slowing down for a better life. He also talks about how challenging it can be to live slowly in an increasingly fast paced society and how to build meaningful connections in relationships.

Jonna Jinton

she needs no introduction, but some people are new to the intentional living lifestyle, so, in a nutshell Jonna used to live in the city of Gothenburg studying to be a nurse, I believe, but she used to spend summer holidays in a little village in the north of Sweden called Grundtjärn, where her mum was born and her ancestors were from. Disillusioned with life in the city she had an intense desire to move there to be closer to nature and find her passions, so she quit her studies, left her apartment, packed her stuff and moved to a gelid north where she faced temperatures as low as -20c on a draughty cottage. She found her passion and her soul, inspiring people with her bravery and fun loving personality on her wildly popular YouTube channel. She also documented the first 10 years of her adventures since moving to the north and day to day life on her old blog jonnajinton.se. After that she moved on to her new website jonnajintonsweden.com where she still blogs occasionally and has her beautiful handcrafted jewellery and art work shop. Jonna might just become the inspiration for a Disney princess (I’m calling it!), she has that energy about her, she’s authentic, brave, kind, creative and passionate about nature which is the inspiration for her work. Did I mentioned she also makes music? Yeah her creativity knows no bounds and her videos have been described as free therapy countless times by her many followers. Her popularity is definitely well earned and well deserved!

Living With Mandu

This channel is a lovely, cosy, faceless channel about a young lady who lives with her Corgi, Mandu in the city or suburbs (not sure) in Sweden. She works an office job and her videos are very wholesome and relaxing. It shows however, that slow living can be achieved anywhere and the nameless host of this channel definitely is a good example of it.

Mother The Mountain Farm

It’s a channel that follows sisters Anastasia and Julia Vanderbyl and their (seemingly) idyllic life in the Australian rainforest. These ladies are something out of a dream, they tend to animals and the land with so much care and respect. The filmmaking conveys authenticity, calm and inspiration. They always use lovely music from unknown and indie musicians that blend so well with the utopian imagery. They have a book out and are definitely a must watch for people interested in slow living, cottagecore and nature based lifestyles.

All The Feral Fawns

This channel is of young Anna Grace, a faerie like redhead living in a rented old barn with her two cats. Her videos show her going about her life, they are very calm and relaxing. Anna was able to create a life for herself that’s not the conventional twenty something year old girl in the 2020s. Her videos have a breezy and ethereal yet cool feel to it. She started on TikTok but eventually moved on to long form content on YouTube. She’s only just starting out at the time of this publication but she’s got what it takes to become very popular. Watch this space.

Our little House On The Mountain

An intentional living channel from a practicing Christian perspective, about Leah DiNonno, an ex-model who found solace in the word of God. She lives in accordance to the bible and makes videos about modesty, nutrition, homemaking and natural beauty. Her videos are peaceful and wholesome as well as educational and inspirational.

Little Women Atelier

A quintessential picture perfect cottagecore channel of the slow fashion brand Little Women Atelier run by sisters Luiza and Julia. Theirs is a lovely, beautifully shot, slow living channel that has a wide variety of videos that are a perfect hybrid of simplicity and aesthetically pleasing splendour. Romanticising life never looked or felt this good and nostalgic!

Verdant Vanille

It’s a channel of a French lady, called Verdant Vanille, who lives in the mountains of France. Her videos convey a raw honesty that is not very common online. The filmmaking is outstanding, her accounts are emotional, poetic and dare I say, almost visceral, you’ll most certainly come away feeling something and that’s a credit to Verdant’s great storytelling skills and captivating personality.

Leena Henningsen

This channel’s young German filmmaker of the same name moved to Norway and lives with her artist boyfriend and their rescued dogs. She’s great at capturing Norway’s unmatched beauty whilst documenting moments of their life and van trips whilst looking for a farm to purchase and settle in.

Awaken Our Wild

It’s a channel run by Carolyn, a former teacher and documents her journey of rewilding life, reconnecting with nature and intentional living in the mountains of Canada. It is a fairly young channel at the time of this article, however it resonates to people looking to return to a more natural way of life, and it reflects on life and humanity’s need for the natural world. It’s an interesting channel with lots of food for thought, specially for the more philosophical types.

Final word:

It is important to mention that as we were writing this article it became clear that almost all of the YouTube channels mentioned are ran by people that are not parents yet. It doesn’t mean that you can’t live slowly with children and it also does not mean that there aren’t any slow living families with children out there. Children, however, can bring another layer of complexity that can be challenging to combine with running a channel.

There are a few more channels that are worth a honourable mention.

Tanita Giu

Indoora World- Cottage Library

Final word

It is rather delightful to find people living the slow life, mindfully in the most varied ways, even if it isn’t perfect, it is surely worth it. It used to be called living and the fact that we have to call it slow living now, really says a lot about the state of society. Finally people are realising that striving for status and the hustle and bustle is making them sick.
